About

The Mommy And Me Initiative is a comprehensive resource center for families, with a focus on addressing social determinants of health (SDOH) barriers. In addition to offering workshops and educational programs, our new resource center will serve as a hub for connecting families with vital resources and support services to address various SDOH factors, such as access to healthcare, housing stability, food insecurity, and economic opportunity. Through partnerships with local organizations and community stakeholders, we will expand our reach and impact, ensuring that families receive holistic support to thrive. Our resource center will offer a wide range of services, including access to healthcare navigation, assistance with applying for government benefits and community resources, referrals to social services agencies, and advocacy for systemic change. Workshops and educational programs will continue to be an integral part of our offerings, providing valuable information, skills, and support to empower families to navigate and overcome SDOH barriers. By adopting this new approach, The Mommy And Me Initiative aims to address the root causes of health disparities and promote equitable access to resources and opportunities for all families in our community.

Statistics on IMR:

Addressing social determinants of health (SDOH) barriers is crucial for improving health outcomes and reducing health disparities. The infant mortality rate, which measures the number of infant deaths before the age of one per 1,000 live births, serves as a stark indicator of health inequities linked to SDOH. For example, in the United States, the infant mortality rate was 5.66 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2019, with economic instability, lack of access to healthcare, and housing insecurity contributing significantly to higher rates, particularly in marginalized communities. By addressing SDOH such as poverty alleviation, healthcare access, and social support, we can work towards reducing infant mortality rates and promoting equitable health outcomes for all families.
